Digital Dentistry

Digital Dentistry

Digital dentistry refers to the use of dental technologies or devices that incorporates digital or computer-controlled components to carry out dental procedures rather than using mechanical or electrical tools. The use of digital dentistry can make carrying out dental procedures more efficient, both for restorative as diagnostic purposes. It is used as a way to facilitate dental treatments and propose new ways to meet rising patient demands.

Our State-of the Art purpose built dental practice is fully digitalised, offering our patients different options for delivering their treatment.

The Digital Revolution is changing the world: computers and digital devices are making what were previously manual tasks easier, faster, cheaper and more predictable.

In dentistry, digital technologies are rapidly advancing, for example:

  • Intraoral cameras
  • Desktop and face scanners
  • Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT)
  • Software for computer-assisted-design
  • Computer-assisted-manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and fabrication procedures such as milling and 3D printing

These technologies are changing the way we treat our patients.

At RESTORE we believe technology is best when it brings knowledge and skills together.

Digital scanners

Digital Scanners

The revolution of digital scanners replacing conventional impressions is here.  We can use it for crown, bridge, study models, wax ups, monitoring tooth wear, implant work and Invisalign cases.

Using digital technology for dental implants

For Dental Implants CT scans are now routinely requested. The data has to be interpreted on digital software and planned digitally. We can place an implant on the computer in the ideal position to determine if more complex surgery is needed or if it is a simple procedure. The scan can be used to produce surgical guides to place the implant, from importing the CT scan to the right software.

CAD for crowns

For computer-aided manufacture most of your crowns are likely to be milled now. This is when they are cut down from a block of material.

Advantages of digital dentistry

  • Smoother and more flexible workflow
  • Reduced time and cost-effective in longer term
  • Improved accuracy
  • High level of predictability.
